February 1962

The Dahlia Show netted a gross amount of £96/14/3 including the dance at night. Expenses expected to be about £22/-/-.

Champion Flower: Hydrangea: Mrs F Burgum,

Patrons Trophy: A perfect arrangement of Golden dahlias with accessories two tone entered by Mrs Humphries

Champion Arrangement: A pastel toned arrangement entered by Mrs Ensbey as good or better than could be seen in Brisbane Show.

A perfect Black and White Arrangement of One Magnolia by Mrs Riordan as well as her autumn toned arrangement were highlights of the day as well as the Floral Carpet depicting a wheelbarrow overflowing with flowers.

Highlighting the function was the Floral Carpet, the centrepiece depicting a cartload of flowers. The body and shafts of the cart compromised yellow dahlias, the wheel outlines with white dahlias, with red hub. Contents included multi-coloured dahlias, hydrangeas and frangipani. Most artistically arranged the background was of green foliage surrounded by pink, white and bronze dahlias and blue hydrangea. Due to the dearth of blooms the centrepiece had to be somewhat restricted. This did not detract from its ultimate beauty, which brought forth much favourable comment. Those responsible for its creation are deserving of the highest praise.
